Strategic Sourcing Buyer/Senior Buyer

Job Description

Overview:

Perform strategic sourcing activities for critical electronic semiconductor commodity. Will focus on monitoring market dynamics that impact material availability and pricing, establish supplier relationship management processes and continuous improvement goals to meet the key metrics of the operation of cost, quality and delivery improvements, as well as negotiating contracts and coordinating supplier integration plans with internal clients. Partner with internal engineering and purchasing clients to identify sourcing needs, identify marketplace trends, and define acceptable levels of service. This individual is a member of the sourcing team and helps to influence supply chain strategies with key emphasis/knowledge in the semiconductor commodity.

In this position, you will:

  • Develop strategic relationships and negotiate agreements with key suppliers to ensure continuous supply.
  • Monitor supplier performance in accordance with the contract requirements and key metrics of quality, cost and on-time delivery, and communicates non-performances to the operations and planning functions of the affected division.
  • Provide support for analyzing the Approved Supplier List, (ASL) recommending suppliers to be added/removed from the ASL.
  • In support of product launches, maintain price lists in the operation system, invoice payment verification, RFQs and pricing analysis.
  • Support supplier sourcing strategies on key commodities as directed by the Purchasing Director.
  • Seek new suppliers for assigned commodities and initiate requests for quotes, performs cost analysis, supplier assessments, supplier performance, for total cost comparison.
  • Use analytical and qualitative methods to analyze market commodities. Analyze industry trends to proactively identify supply base issues, minimize risk, and exploit emerging opportunities.
  • Analyze supplier technical capabilities, manufacturing limitations, and capacity and matches the preferred supplier to meet the required Casco specifications.
  • Act as the Purchasing representative for compliance of IATF certification, as well as Product Stewardship compliances of Conflict Minerals, REACH, RoHS, and other compliances as required.
  • Participate in annual budgeting costs to support Casco Divisional cost reduction budgets.
  • Has a clear understanding of the latest purchasing techniques of quote analysis, should-cost analysis, VA/VE analysis, and market awareness of raw materials.
  • Participate in making the company more respectful of the environment.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering degree preferred.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience as a buyer in the automotive industry.
  • Experience buying semiconductor electronics.
  • Automotive background with TS16949, IATF Certification requirements, PPAP, control plans, FMEAs and APQP.
  • Experience with QAD ERP system a plus.
  • Strong negotiation, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically to interpret and negotiate contracts.
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication and people skills to generate strong relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Reliable, self-directed and capable of working independently, with the ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously and use sound judgment in prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as work in a team environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
